Heather Gothard's Medical Fund

Heather Gothard lost her long fight with cancer on Wednesday, September 28 in Houston, TX.  Her fight began 10 years ago when her first heart gave out and she was blessed with a donor heart.  Shortly after the transplant, she was diagnosed with colon cancer.  She then endured countless doctor visits, endless chemotherapy and more ICU stays than the family can remember.

Up to just a month ago, the doctors were telling Heather things looked better and she was on the road to improvement.  You can imagine when 2 weeks ago at a routine check-up, the doctors sensed something was awry.  They did a scan and found the cancer had moved to 3/4 of her lungs.  They gave her days to live.

Heather made it a couple of more days and family and friends were all able to tell ger good-bye.  It was a heart wrenching time with lots of crying and remembrance with Heather.

A few things that Heather loved were summer, being barefoot, the beach and of course anything her daughter Kendall was doing. Kendall has always been the only heart Heather ever needed. From the moment Kendall was born, Heather never took her eyes off of her nor will she from heaven. She will always be watching, encouraging and sending strength to her when needed, right there alongside her dad.

We will all miss her laugh, (God that woman could laugh) her infectious smile, her sarcasm, her love for life, her yelling from the stands, her delicious meals, her flip-flop painted toes, her take charge attitude, her inability to understand simple math, her ever present and usually broken sunglasses and always making someone else pick where we should go eat and then saying naw, I don’t want that.

As you can imagine, no one is ever ready for someone to pass.  The optimism was high that she would recover.  Over the past 10 years through her heart transplant, cancer, chemo, and now a funeral, the expenses began to build to where today they are in the 7 figures.

We are setting up this fund on behalf of Greg (her husband) and Kendall (her daughter) that they will be able to get somewhat back on their feet financially and begin their road to healing.

Please, anything helps.  All proceeds will go straight to Greg and Heather to pay against their bills.  Our initial goal is to just help with the funeral, but they can take more to start chipping away at the medical costs.

God Bless you and thank you very much.  You don't know how every penny helps.
