We are the family members of Brinley Addison McDowell. We are trying to raise money to help her parents pay for medical bills and funeral costs. The following are the words written by her father Robert. For those of you who don't know, Brinley had systemic juvenile arthritis. Most recently we found out that she had a problem with her large intestine known as a motility disorder. After several procedures, biopsies, and surgeries, it was determined that the best option for her would be to have an ileostomy. After getting that , she improved 100% and was a changed child. She was having fun running, swimming, and playing. These things she had never had the opportunity to enjoy up until that point. One drawback was the medicines she had to be on to make sure her arthritis wasn't causing her pain also weakened her ability to fight off disease and infection. So the littlist thing that would be nothing to you and me would potentially hospitalize her. After several hospitalizations we had a good run where she had good time, but she developed a yeast infection that turned into a UTI that then sent her into sepsis. She was so strong throughout all this and fought it off and we were sent home on some meds. She was happy and healthy for 4 days until early Friday morning. She developed a fever after we gave her two doses of of Motrin her doctor said come to the ER and let us look at her. It was determined she developed an allergy to an antibiotic she had previously taken. After getting drugs to counteract that reaction thing just went downhill from there. Her little body was just so weak after fighting the sepsis that she just didn't have any reserve left. After being intubated, several lines, catheters, and CPR several times they informed us that this was doing more harm than help to keep reviving her. At that point, Bri and I climbed into bed, cuddled with her and talked to her as she went to be with Jesus. We are all dumbfounded with why this little girl had to go through so much, but so glad that she got to come home for 4 days and sleep in mommy and daddy's bed. Waking up to her smiling face those few days was some of the happiest moments in my life. Mommy and Daddy love you so much Brinley.
The funds are needed at this present time to help them pay for past medical expenses and present funeral costs. This would mean a lot to the family of Brinley because they have lost their only child and she was such a joy to all who knew her. Any amount is appreciated and your prayers for Briana and Robert and their families are also appreciated. Thank you in advance.
