Support Mia’s Journey to Walk Again
Donation protected
I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for our beloved Maltese, Mia.
Mia is more than just a pet—she’s our baby girl, our constant companion, and the light of our lives. At 6 years old, she’s full of energy, always ready to play, and adores every person she meets. We often joke that she’s part bunny because of how fast she zips around the house. Her joy is infectious, and we can’t imagine our home without her. She LOVES people so much, which is what makes this accident so terrible.
On April 25, 2025, our world turned upside down. Someone Mia had just met dropped her over a stair railing, causing her to fall nearly 10 feet onto the tile floor. She immediately started screaming in pain. We rushed her to the emergency vet, where we learned she had spinal compression of her T11 and T12 vertebrae. Initially, she had no feeling in her legs, and we were told she might be paralyzed for life. We were also told she would be in chronic pain for life.
After an overnight stay costing $2,571.50, a second opinion revealed slight sensation in her legs, offering a glimmer of hope. There’s a surgery that can stabilize her spine and potentially restore her ability to walk. This surgery will also ensure that she is 100% pain-free. The procedure involves placing a rod and pin to support her T11 and T12 vertebrae and costs $11,229.95. Post-surgery, Mia will also need physical therapy to aid her recovery.
We’re committed to giving Mia every chance to recover, but the financial burden is overwhelming. We’re asking for your support. Any amount, even $5, brings us closer to our goal. Most importantly, even if you cannot donate, please keep Mia in your prayers today and throughout her recovery.
Mia is young, spirited, and has so much love to give. She’s not ready to give up, and neither are we. We are giving her the chance to run, play, and cuddle again.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any support you can provide.
