It will be my Mam’s 62nd Birthday on Saturday 4th October.

Grief is an unimaginable ache and leaves you feeling incomplete. There are no words to explain how much I miss her.

On my mams last birthday her 60th, sadly my Grandma passed away who she cared for. My Mam was a nurse and she always put everyone else’s needs before her own.

She never seemed afraid, she faced challenges and emergencies with a clear head. She was cool and in control. She completed the GNR two times!

Now I wish to challenge myself in her memory, I am going to walk from The Olive Stone to Seaburn beach approximately 17 miles on Saturday 4th October. My mams favourite place to go to clear her head was a trip to the beach.

So she will be walking beside me I am sure, egging me on or reminding me to pack plasters and supplies.

This is something I’ve never done before but I wish to complete this challenge and raise money for The Children's Heart Unit Fund, Freeman Hospital. When my Mam was in the Freeman for her major heart surgery she would get emotional as she would tell me how she would watch the children on the children’s ward play.
