Equality Day 2024: Rally at the Capitol

Your donation to Equality Day 2024 will help us send a clear & united message to Kansas legislators: The Kansas queer community will not be silenced! Did you know that in 2023, a record number of anti-lgbtq+ bills were presented & this year is predicted to be even worse.

How can you help? Equality Day is an annual event organized by Equality Kansas. We fight for LGBTQ+ equality with other advocacy organizations in the state but Equality Kansas is the only organization with a lobbyist in the Kansas Statehouse. With our mission to end discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity our lobbyist works directly to influence legislators but we also educate the next generation of citizens in the fight for equality.

Equality Day is an event for LGBTQ Kansans and allies of all ages to meet and celebrate our pride. And, working with allied organizations, we bus LGBTQ+ youth from across the state to our event. A donation from you will help pay for lunch and a drink for youth who may have driven several hours to come to the Capitol. Each attendee will learn how to lobby their representative by going to one of two training sessions. Finally, each person in attendance will meet with their elected representative to share their pride.

We thank you for any donations (no donation is too small) to help fortify our advocates. A guiding theme for our event is always to empower queer people to share their unique voices because through the sharing of private pain, we create public power.
