Treatment for Viviana
Donation protected
My niece Viviana lights up any room just by walking in it. This tough-as-nails, intelligent, cutie pie has been through quite the battle.
Last Friday night she suffered a severe asthma attack, where the hard work of many doctors helped to save her life. Viv looked like she was on the road to recovery when she started to lose the use of her left arm. The next morning Viv also had extremely decreased use of her right arm and many of her neck and chest muscles.
While we don't know for sure yet what Viviana has, the doctors believe it is an extremely rare disease called "Hopkins Syndrome" that can leave a child with paralysis after a severe asthma attack because of believed damage to the anterior horn cells of the spinal cord through a virus. There have only been 30 cases reported and no known cure to date.
The doctors are currently trying a treatment that they have called their "hail mary" because there has been little proof of effectiveness. If this doesn't work the battle doesn't stop there, as we will continue to look for solutions to get our Viv back to the healthy girl she once was.
Viviana is a fighter who deserves the best life has to give her. She and her family could use any support that you are willing to donate. Funds will be collected by her mother Catherine, and will be used toward's Viviana's previous medical bills, as well as put towards any future potential treatment.
Our whole family would be forever grateful for any donations and we could use your prayers. Thank-you.
