Abbey’s Road to Recovery

Abbey's Bio

In 2015 while performing in a magic show I suffered a spinal cord injury when I fell over 12 feet from an illusion. I broke the C3 and C4 vertebra in my neck. This resulted in me being completely paralyzed from the neck down for three months and on a ventilator for five months. Since this happened I have been fighting to regain mobility and independence. Things have been going really well in my road to recovery. I had regained a lot of function, a lot more than the doctors ever thought would happen. Recently in the last two months I’ve been going through some really bad medical issues due to stomach and blood pressure issues that we do not know the cause of. I’ve lost a lot of weight and a lot of strength. My ability to take care of myself has completely diminished. It’s become very difficult on me and my fiancé. We still do not have answers. My quality of life is not the same anymore. I spent most of my days at home sick unable to really do much more than lay down. I am going to be needing way more PT than I can afford. Unfortunately the good PT that I need is not covered by my insurance. My fiancé is home a lot more now taking care of me Unable to work because I require around the clock care. I am completely touched at the fact that you guys want to be there to help support us through this really tough time. We send all of our love to you guys you have no idea how much this means to us. We wish you all the best.
