23 YO Flighting against Lymphoma
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Shuangquan Zhao, and I am writing this story on behalf of my cousin, Chen Zhao.
Chen is now 23 years old. In 2015, he was diagnosed with lymphoma, which is a cancer that starts in cells that are part of the body's immune system. Chen has received multiple chemotherapy treatments and a stem cell transplant, but the cancer keeps coming back.
Six months ago, our family was told that there was nothing more that could be done, and that Chen would die from the lymphoma. His parents then learned of a new treatment (CAR T-cell therapy) that was being studied in the U.S. at MD Anderson that could possibly CURE him--not just to postpone the death, but to CURE him.
In order to afford treatment at MD Anderson, Chen and his parents sold all of their posessions, including their house. After many hurdles and more chemotherapy, Chen was finally enrolled in the clinical trial at MD Anderson.
Chen and his parents have been in Houston since April and their funds are running out. They have borrowed from friends and family and taken out high interest loans. They have no other relatives or friends in Houston, and they have the expense of housing, food, transportation and very high medical bills. From April till August, Chen's family has spent over$42,000 in hospital charges and over $580,000 in professional charges, and the charges keep accumulating.
Chen and his family are good, kind-hearted people. His parents love him just as much as any other parents in the world. They have sacrificed everything to try to save their only child’s life. All the donation we receive will be used on Chen's treatment for his lymphoma. This may be his ONLY CHANCE TO LIVE.
I hope that you can find it in your heart to help this family. Anything that you can do, no matter how small, will make a difference. Thank you.
