I fell in love with Johnta about 15 minutes after I met him.  He was so humble, he wanted to work hard and he showed his appreciation for being chosen to become a part of the Musical Theater Crew at Howard Middle School.  His work ethic and tenacity was infectious and I wish that all of the students felt the way he did about performing behind the scenes of a production as he did.  He is now attending Jones High School and is a percussionist in the band, yay Johnta!! I am blessed  that I came to know Johnta and his family, especially his mother Ilontay. She is as hard working and motivated as her son. Humm….I wonder where he got it from???  The Barber family is striving for a better life and to remove themselves from depressing and oppressive surroundings.  I would love to help them reach their goal.  They have an opportunity to move to a small HOME instead of an apartment filled with questionable people whom tend to not be family oriented. I am being very kind with my words, because that is who I am, but the truth is that I could not fathom being strong enough to keep my kids safe from people who feel that drugs and weapons are a daily part of life.  That is what Ilontay deals with every day.    They need a small amount of money to provide a downpayment to ensure they have a roof over their head and somewhere to call home.  For a family of 4, this home is less than 1,200 sq ft with 1 bathroom.  Please give as much as you can to improve the lives of this lovely, hard working and wonderful family.  God Bless.
