Mike's Book: Discipleship for Life

Introduction:
Hi:) My name is Mike Skillman and I am attempting to raise support to print the first 1000 books of a six year self-publishing project called: Discipleship for Life: A Manual for Following Jesus Christ.
My Situation:
Currently my family and I are missionaries to a small Christian youth camp/retreat center called Head Waters Lodge (ydionline.org) I serve as the director of this 57 year old ministry. We are located in the least populated county East of the Mississippi River in Highland County, Va.
Some Background:
Growing up in a large church in Northern Virginia I remember when the leadership asked how many people had never been formally discipled. I was shocked at how many people raised their hands! This stuck in my brain that people needed and desired to be discipled in following Jesus Christ.
In Matthew 28, after Jesus' resurrection, He is about to ascend into heaven. In verses 19-20, just before going up into heaven, Jesus gives his followers a command to go out and make disciples. This command was Jesus' last words to the beginning of the Christian church. This book is intended on helping people fulfill this command.
After serving as a youth pastor for over two decades it was difficult to find a discipleship material that met all of the criteria for growing people into committed followers of Jesus. I found myself taking a lesson from over here and adding it to something from over there... My frustration turned into recognizing a need for developing something new to help grow the body of Christ.
The writings have 36 lessons with 24 challenges that are designed for small groups, schools, and individuals! The material accumulates into asking people to become a disciple of Jesus Christ for their life by signing a commitment form in an accountability setting.
I look forward to expressing my gratefulness to everyone that wants to shoulder with me to begin distributing this lifetime work!
