They say doctors are supposed to save lives, but in Gaza, we are struggling to keep our own newborn alive."
We are two doctors from Gaza. Like many, we dreamed of a quiet wedding and a home filled with books and medicine. Instead, we got married under the roar of warplanes. Our "home" now is a thin nylon tent on the shores of the Mediterranean—not for a holiday, but for survival.
In the middle of this darkness, a light arrived: our son, Naeem.
Naeem was born into displacement. He hasn't known the warmth of a nursery or the safety of a wooden crib. His first breath was filled with the scent of salt water and smoke. We have been displaced several times, carrying nothing but our medical degrees, our stethoscope, and now, our precious baby.
The Reality We Face:
As doctors, we know exactly what Naeem needs to grow healthy. But as parents in a tent, we are helpless.
• The Cold: The sea breeze is freezing at night, and the tent offers no protection.
• Hygiene: Clean water is a luxury we can barely afford.
• Nutrition: Providing the right nourishment for a nursing mother and a growing infant in these conditions is a daily battle.
We spent our lives studying to heal others. Now, we are reaching out to you to help us save our family. We want a future for Naeem where he hears birds instead of drones, and where he sleeps in a room with four walls, not a piece of fabric on the sand.
Your donation will go towards:
1. Securing safe shelter and basic living essentials (food, clean water, blankets).
2. Specialized care and supplies for baby Naeem (diapers, formula, clothing).
3. Helping us rebuild a life where we can eventually return to our mission of healing others.
Every dollar is a thread of hope in Naeem’s tent. Thank you for seeing our humanity.
