Help Mike on his road to recovery!

Donation protected
I have created this GoFundMe on behalf of my Zydeco friend, Mike Broussard, who is in a critical fight for his mobility, independence, and quality of life. I am reaching out for help on behalf of his family as they navigate his long recovery journey, in hopes of lessening their burdens.

On August 2, Mike’s life changed forever when he was in a tragic car accident on the way to a music gig. He was airlifted to the hospital, where he spent three weeks in critical care. Thankfully, his brain bleeding stopped on its own, but he required three major surgeries—two to completely repair his pelvis and one for his ankle. He now has multiple rods and pins holding his pelvis and ankle together.

Mike also suffered additional fractures, including a broken heel, sternum, and back, which thankfully will heal without surgery. Still, he will remain non-weight bearing for at least two more months and is expected to need a hip replacement in the next 6–12 months. He has now been transferred to an inpatient rehabilitation hospital, where he will stay until discharged, followed by months of physical therapy before he is strong enough for the hip replacement.

For those who know Mike, he hails from the Zydeco royalty Broussard family and has dedicated his life to music and culture. A gifted multi-instrumentalist, he plays the triple-row accordion, bass, and drums. Since childhood, he has played with legendary bands such as Keith Frank, Lil Nate, and Wayne Singleton. In 2017, he formed his own band, Mike Broussard & Nu Edition Zydeco, which proudly includes three of his sons. Mike is a true musical genius and a passionate advocate for Louisiana Creole culture.

We are raising funds to cover Mike’s extensive medical care and rehabilitation—support that will drastically improve his quality of life, reduce his pain, and give him hope for a more mobile future. Every dollar goes directly toward his treatment, recovery, and related expenses.

If you can give, thank you. If you can share, thank you. Your support, in any form, means the world to Mike and his family. Please help us give him the chance to walk again, live without pain, play music once more, and reclaim his independence.
