Support Charlotte's Journey to Stability

Donation protected
Introduction: Hi everyone, as y’all know my name is Charlotte Brown, and I am reaching out to you all in a time of need instead of trying to white knuckle my way through it by myself like I normally do as I’ve been pulling myself up by my bootstraps so much they broke.

The Story: As many of you know my move from Orlando to Chicago hasn’t been the easiest for me, and while I am the one who normally tries my best to take care of my friends I am finding myself needing help and instead of isolating myself I am being extremely vulnerable and asking for help. I have been doing freelance work my entire adult life post grad and even in the best of times that is very tumultuous at best. Paired with learning I am ADHD and not the best at saving money and budgeting it has been a rough transition especially because as many of y’all who know me know that my family has been less than supportive and I have been struggling to make ends meet on my own. Originally my dad had agreed to co-sign my lease but is now backing out from doing that. I am hoping that if I can fundraise the money to pay for my rent all ahead of time my property manager will still let me stay even without a co-signer or that my dad will change his mind.
The Need: I am seeking your help to raise at least 10,000 to cover my base rent for six months, and anything above that would go towards utilities and food. This amount will ensure that I have a stable place to live while I work on getting back on my feet. Having a secure home will allow me to focus on finding a new job, addressing my health issues including my mental health, and several other necessary steps I need to take in order to regain stability.
Breakdown of Costs:
Monthly Base Rent: $1743
Total for the Year: 20,196 (GoFundMe takes a percentage out)

Why Your Help Matters: Your support will provide me with the stability and peace of mind I need during this challenging time to help get my mental health back in a place where I can get refocused on finding a full time job. Even the smallest contribution can make a significant difference and help me avoid the risk of homelessness and avoid food insecurity.
I have been working with a career coach who has been helping me actively find a full time job but as many of y’all know its hard to find a job in this economy. I am trying to transition out of freelance work into something more full time and stable so that I don’t have this stress of the unpredictable nature of freelance work to contend with.

How You Can Help:
Donate: Any amount, big or small, will be greatly appreciated. Also I understand money is tight for everyone which is why it’s taken me this long to resort to a gofund me. If you would like just let me know and I will do my best to pay you back when I am able.
Share: If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing my campaign with your network. The more people who see this, the better my chances of reaching the goal.

Gratitude: I am deeply grateful for any support you can provide. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to me, and I will be forever thankful for your help during this difficult period as I know that I have many friends who love me it’s just been hard because many of y’all live so far away so we don’t get to hangout irl or virtually as much as we would like and spending most of my time alone it’s hard not to get lonely. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and consider supporting my campaign. Together, with your help I can hopefully focus on getting back on my feet and continuing moving towards my goals.
