Lucas vs. LA Metropolitan Court

Hello everyone,

My name is Lucas Gorham and I am an artist and musician.  I am raising money because I am in a huge amount of legal trouble that I and my family cannot afford to shoulder. It is with much embarrasment and shame that I am making this gofundme campaign, but I can no longer keep this a secret and it is out of desperation that I am reaching out to my friends, acquantances and strangers online for help in my time of need.

Here's my story: I moved to California about 2 years ago and shortly after got pulled over and was cited a traffic violation.  As you may or may not know, I travel a lot for music, and a result of that is that I missed my court date while I was out of town on tour and my drivers license got suspended.  At that point, the cost of resolving my tickets and getting my license unsuspended costed nearly $2000. To say the least, I couldnt afford it, so I began paying it off little by little, but my license would remain suspended until it was all paid off.

My line of work in LA involves driving to gigs and sessions with equipment so I couldn't stop driving because then I would be completely stuck and unable to make the money to pay all of these legal fees back. I continued to drive illegaly in order to make a living and then something terrible happened: I was pulled over and cited again for no license, which meant another $2000 I couldn't afford and the car I was driving at the time was impounded, which I basically lost to  the city because I couldnt afford to get it out.

Fast forward to this past weekend: I was driving back from Long Beach where I was working on music, and I was pulled over by a police officer, who proceeded to impound my new car (which I just aqcuired a few weeks ago) and give me another ticket for driving with a suspended license. 

I am not a bad person or a criminal. I am a struggling artist who is following thier creative path which I and many others believe that I should pursue. I am trapped in a cycle of owing money and not having the means or the agency to make this money. I have attempted to do secret benefit shows both in Houston and LA to raise money but to no avail. The cost to resolve my legal problems and to get my car out of impound will cost nearly $5000. I dont even make that much money in 2-3 months  time and my family cant afford to assist me either; my mom is retired and my dad just lost his job, my sisters have thier own families so they cant afford to help me financially either. 

I need assistance as soon as possible because as time goes on, my car impound fees and legal fees get worse and worse and the amount of money required to resolve these issues spirals even more out of control and even farther beyond my capacity to pay for it all. This issue is huge and is completely putting my life on hold and affecting my ability to take care of myself as an adult. I can't get to my gigs because my car is impounded, I cant pick up new jobs that require a valid DL because its suspended, and every day it gets worse. Even if I wanted a full-time teaching job to insure steady income to pay for this mess, I wouldnt be able to commit to it without reliable transportation.  I am completely stuck in a legal bind and I need your help! Every single cent raised will be used to resolve my legal fees.
