Jackie Parish-Nyhuis' Medical Fund

My beautiful sister Jackie was diagnosed with breast cancer in Feb. 2016. At that time she also had a lump on her throat, which they would tackle at a later time as the breast cancer was a priority. She underwent surgery and 7 weeks of radiation which she completed in June. At that time, she was given the all clear. Our family was so very grateful, but we knew the lump in her throat still needed to be addressed. Jackie was recently laid off from her job, and decided she would take this time to take the next step in dealing with her health. On Sept. 21st she made the journey to New York, and they found the lump on her throat was a cyst, which they drained and is now gone. However, they told her they found a new mass, which was of concern. Jackie was terrified, and once again we wait for results. On Fri. Sept. 23rd she is informed she has Thyroid cancer. As you can imagine it was yet another blow to my sister and our family. To know my sister is to love her - she's got a heart of gold, a beautiful soul, so full of life, the life of the party, and one of the funniest people on the planet. Jackie will undergo another surgery and we pray they will remove it all and she will once again get the all clear.

As her sister I feel so helpless, but what I can do is set up a fund that will allow my sister the time she needs to heal without the stress of how her family will push forward if she isn't able to contribute. As a family we will once again rally around her and get through this.

Jackie would never ask for help, but she'd be the first one to help another. I do this for the love of my sister and to allow her some reprieve from the hell she continues to battle. She tells me "Everything will be ok - I know it! I've made it this far and I'm NOT going down without a fight!" Those are the words of a warrior - my sister!
