On August 30th, 2020 late into a typical Sunday evening, our family received a traumatizing and sudden loss of a loving mother of 3, devoted grandmother of 8, caring sister and joyful friend in Terry Lynn Wesley Taylor.
With no signs or warnings, three generations of our families livelihoods have been changed in a devastatingly drastic and immediate way. Terry was the glue that held together our family. She was the perfect example of a mother’s love in her devotion to raising each one of us as well as her grand kids. She bore the responsibility of a matriarch and carried the family for many years in a way that few could. Terry is loved and respected by many for her charisma and ability to strike up a conversation with anyone and be the most comforting person one could talk to. Her years in the South Bronx turned her into a tough and unbreakable bedrock for a family that needed one after experiencing so many losses. We all will miss you dearly and vow to replicate the strength and resolve she so often showed us.
Our dear Terry, was not only the glue for our family, but she also was the primary financial contributor for those she lived with. 2020 has been a difficult year for many and the difficulty in finding work has taken a massive toll financially.
We are creating this GoFundMe not only to ensure that we have a proper memorial and burial (something we unfortunately have not been able to do often in the past), but for the ensuing changes that will come to our family. Up to her passing, Terry was helping directly care for 4 of her grandchildren who are all under the age of 10 and helped with her children. With her passing, we will have to downsize not only where they all lived, but prepare for the burdening expenses as COVID continues to devastate businesses and jobs have become very scarce in the city for the foreseeable future. We do not have many resources and we are worried about the health of Terry’s brother as he is failing in health as well. We have to prepare for a worse case scenario.
We have managed to put some money together from the immediate family but due to time concerns we are being pushed to come up with payments much faster than we can afford currently. We are trying to not only cover a funeral, but housing costs and schooling for the younger children at least through the end of the year. We have estimated from what we can come up with and what we will need to bridge the gap to help us overcome this set back. We will ensure frequent updates in this journey as our lives are now shifted entirely and we move forward in this new chapter.
We know this is a particularly difficult time for many & we welcome your thoughts, prayers, sentiments and support of all forms. For those of you who are in a position to give, please consider making a charitable contribution to support our Family.
