On behalf of the Cadets of the Georgetown University Hoya Battalion we thank you for your support and acknowledgement. This year is a special year for us, as it marks 220 years of commissioning officers at Georgetown University and our 100th class of commissioning seniors since a formal program has existed.
The Hoya Battalion is composed of cadets from diverse backgrounds who are engaged in a wide range of studies here in our nation’s capital. We balance dedication to our studies, families, and friends with our dedication to training and developing our minds and bodies to one day lead our nation’s soldiers in combat. Our commissioning class of seniors has been practicing the skills they have learned over the course of their time in the program by leading their underclassmen both on campus and in the field environment. As our centennial commissioning class prepares to join the force, we are honored to celebrate their accomplishments and achievements, through the longstanding tradition of hosting a Military Ball. Military Ball also allows us to give credit to the exceptional team of Cadre members who have supported us throughout our time as cadets in the Battalion by serving as teachers, mentors, and examples of excellence.
As we prepare for this year’s Military Ball, which will be held April 22, we ask that you support our battalion by helping offset the cost for our cadets. Our cadets have several fundraising events planned at their respective schools and across the battalion, but we would greatly appreciate any contribution to meet our fundraising goal of $5,000. Donations will not only ensure that Military Ball will be memorable for the centennial commissioning class, but that the Battalion can facilitate new training opportunities for cadets in the future. We also pledge to share a portion of all contributions with the wider community by donating to Dog Tag Bakery, a D.C. bakery which doubles as a fellowship program for returning veterans, offering real-life business experience and an education at Georgetown University to ease their transition into civilian life.
We appreciate your continued and unwavering support so much that we (Hoya Battalion) will be matching each donation with a repetition of a physical exercise. $1 = one rep, which means every dollar counts!
