Help with Wade's road to recovery

My name is Jason and for the last 8 years I've had some one the best times of my life on adventures kayaking, mountain biking, riding motorcycles and camping with my dear friend Wade Raymond.

Wade was the first guy to guide me down a river in a kayak after I'd had a few beginner lessons. I'd bumped into him along the side Deerfield River and he offered to paddle with me. Taking out a new boater means a lot of extra responsibility and effort, chasing down flooded boats and helping people to the side of rivers after they swim, so it's a pretty generous thing to offer. Later on, I realized Wade's reputation in New England is that of a very safe paddler always happy to invite new paddlers along even though it often slows things down for the rest of the group. That's the kind of guy Wade is- kind, welcoming, easy going, unassuming and fun loving. If you are lucky enough to know Wade I'm sure you agree. Wade's the guy that makes friends everywhere in any type of crowd. Wade has a magnetic personality and doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He loves his family dearly, he loves adventure and he loves to make the most of life.

The type of guy Wade is makes this news so hard to accept. Wade was the victim of a terrible accident over Labor Day Weekend. While riding his motorcycle upstate NY he was struck by a dump truck as it carlessly pulled out of a parking lot. Wade sustained severe injuries to his head and leg and was helivacked to UHS Wilson Medical Center near Binghampton, NY where he continues to fight hard and make progress in his recovery. There was significant swelling in his brain and the decision was made to put Wade into a
medically induced coma to help his body heal. Wade spent 3 weeks in the ICU in that coma and has recently been moved into the Neuro wing which is a big step forward in his recovery. Wade has undergone about
11 surgeries thus far from brain surgery to reconstructive leg surgery and the list goes on.

Wade's wife Ann has been by his side in an amazing display of loving support and strength while their children Skyler and Christopher hope and pray for their dad at the family's home near Hartford, Connecticut.

Today the report from Ann is Wade is able to look around and track people with his eyes and has begun moving his arms. He yawns and seems so eager to try to talk which we know will be coming soon. This is all real progress as just surviving was very touch and go in the beginning. Thankfully he is a young and strong man and is proving to be a true fighter.

Any money we can raise will be used to help pay for the care he is receiving now and the extensive care he will need to move forward in his recovery. The helicopter bill alone was 49K and that's unfortunately the tip of the iceberg. There is a lot of therapy in the future to get Wade back onto his feet which we all know he can do.

Wade and his family have a long challenging road
ahead of them and I want to do whatever I can to help Wade get back to being the guy I know that's always smiling. Please do whatever you can to help my dear friend Wade Raymond and his family in this difficult time.
