Dear Family, friends, and friends yet to be made,
For those who may not know me, my name is Steph and I am an art teacher at J. Paul Taylor Academy in Las Cruces, NM. This is my fifth year at JPTA and I can't believe how the time has flown by!
I am currently working towards earning my Level 1 teaching license through TeachNM OPAL (Online Portfolio Alternative License) process. My goal is to be complete by June 2017.
In order to finish, I need to take four national tests and pay for the OPAL registration. This is one use of the funds that your contirbution will go towards.
Along with completing my certification, another professional goal is to attend the National Art Education Association (NAEA) Conference for Art Educators. This year the conference will be in New York City, NY. This is the biggest art education convention in the country and I know it will be super inspiring and motivating to try new techniques and lesson ideas in my classroom. Your donation will also help me participate in this awesome professional development opportunity.
I believe in the power of the good in this universe. I am a dedicated teacher who also believes in the power of art and what it can bring to an individual's life. Budgets are continually being cut around the state and country. Art is usually one of the first programs to be cut. My position was cut in hours this year, which has made paying living costs difficult. However, I will not let this challenge stop me from delivering the best and well-rounded art education and experience for the students I serve.
