Osa's Operations
Donation protected
Hi everyone. This is definitely a first for me to do something like this. I don't like to ask for help, but if I ever had to, it would be for someone as amazing as this little lady I am about to introduce you to. Our wonderful family member Osa, is a 1 1/2 year old American Bully that we got from a good friend. Osa was special from the first day we brought her home. Our daughter Gianna got bit by a spider (an Orb Weaver to be exact) and was extremely nauseous and ill. Osa being in our home less than 24 hours, immediately laid by her side on the bathroom floor and didn't leave until she felt better and was able to get up. Right then and there she loved us and we loved her. She was our family. Osa is the most loving dog that we've ever had (Those who know us know that we haven't been short on dogs throughout the years!) Osa is special though, she holds a place in our hearts that can never be duplicated. Whether it's rides in the car, playing with the kids, snuggling on the couch watching movies, or just snoring and farting at the bottom of the bed, Osa is always with us. She never wants to be without us, in fact she will follow us into the bathroom and lay at our feet while we are "doing our business" I know, I know, too much info! About a week and a half ago, Osa started limping. We took her to Mesa Vet and they did an x-ray on her rind hind leg. We were not expecting what came next. She tore her ACL. So the vet said that this would need specialty care and we were referred to the Colorado Canine Orthopedic center. We had her appointment yesterday and again, we weren't expecting what was about to come next. After a second x-ray, they confirmed that her right ACL was torn. We said "ok, let's get it fixed." The doctor then told us the cost was approximately $3500. Wow, that's a lot, but she is family. Anything for family right? The doctor then told us, "that's not all." He said he went ahead and x-ray'd her left leg and there is already fluid building up on the left knee. He said that he would bet that we would be back in around 6-12 months for a second surgery on the left leg. We asked about not doing anything, and the doctor said that she'd be pretty immobile or "lame" as he called it, in pain, and other issues would then arise. We were at a loss. So many emotions. First it was "We need to do it no matter the cost!" Then after thinking, "$7,000 for an animal, we have so many other financial responsibilities, it's not worth it!" Almost exactly after that was said, we walked into our sons room and saw him and Osa laying together sleeping. He had his arms wrapped around her and right then and there we decided that we needed to get this done. She is scheduled tomorrow 9/29. A wonderful lady at the clinic that I spoke to told me that people have had success raising money on this very site. We were apprehensive. We don't want to beg or bother people with feeling responsible to donate or not to donate. So this is us, just going out on a whim and trying something different. We will not be disappointed if someone cannot or doesn't want to donate. Times are difficult for many of us. On be other hand, anyone that is willing to would be such an amazing act of kindness that will never be forgotten. Sorry for the novel! Either way, thank you for your time and have a wonderful day/night!
With Love,
