My son Michael is my best friend. He was definitely a surprise blessing, and after a very long complicated pregnancy we are glad that he is here.

Michael has severe Plagiocephaly due to his position in my uterus and prolonged labor. He has been evaluated at Cranial Technologies in Houston, and is going to need head band treatment (helmet) along with physical therapy for his neck. The clinical evaluation report says, "Michael presents with severe Plagiocephaly with cranial vault and skull base asymmetries, head height unleveling and increased width related to in-utero position (low vertex), prolonged labor (stuck in birth canal) and neck muscle tightness." Unfortunately, Medicaid no longer pays for cranial helmets. So, this leaves the cost to my husband and I. We are also out of network for his Medicaid (we are just moving back to the Houston area) so we are going to have a hard time finding a place out here where he can do physical therapy at.

Studies have linked untreated Plagiocephaly to problems with mental and physical health . We are doing all that we can to ensure a bright future for our precious baby, and this is the first step.
