2d Infantry Division 100th Birthday
Donation protected
The 2d Indianhead Division Association (2IDA) Veterans organization is celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the formation of the US Army 2d Infantry Division in Bourmont, France in 1917 during the first World War and to pay tribute to the thousands of veterans that have served in the 2d ID. The event is at the Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel, Arlington, VA on 13-16 September 2017. The 2IDA is planning tours, dinners, banquets and a rededication ceremony at the 2d Infantry Division Memorial on Constitution Avenue near the White House in Washington, DC.
The 2d Indianhead Division Scholarship and Memorial Charitable Foundation [IRS 501(c)(3) #47-24342777] is soliciting funds to support this grand celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the 2d Division. Funds raised here will be used to pay for tours, dinners, banquets and hotel subsidies for 2d Division Veterans. Many of our 300-400 guests will travel on a once in a lifetime trip to Washington DC for this event. These men and women served in WWII, the Korean War, on the Korean DMZ, in Iraq and Afghanistan. Our WWII and Korean War vets are aging fast and this celebration will allow them to be honored as the heroes they are. These funds will help veterans of the 2d Division of WWII, Korea, the Korean DMZ, Afghanistan and Iraq defray the cost of the trip for these veterans to celebrate this momentous event.
The 2d Infantry Division (2d ID) fought with distinction in every war since 1917; World War I, II, Korea, Iraq and Afghanistan. The notable exception in the war fighting was the 2d ID absence in Vietnam. In 1965, the 2d ID returned to Korea and has been the longest forward deployed U.S. Army Division with the important mission of guarding Freedom’s Frontier, the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) between the Republic of Korea in the south and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in the north.
All contributions are tax deductible. Please make your contribution early so we can make all the necessary arrangements. All members of the 2IDA are grateful for your help in making this event possible. Your contribution will go a long way to say to these men and women… Thank you for your Service!
