Hello everyone...my name is Eric Lassig and I am a close friend of Stan Porter and his sweet family. Stan is one of the most hard working and talented cabinet installers and finish carpenters that I have had the pivilege to work and associate with. He is a true craftsman. He is also a wonderful husband, father and friend in the prime of his life who goes the extra mile to serve and help his family, friends and clients.
Several weeks ago he was struggling with what he thought was just a combination of being fatigued from long hours of work and a cold or virus. He finally went to the hospital because he wasn't getting any better.
Then just a few days from his first visit to the hospital he found himself at the Huntsman Cancer Institute with a diagnosis of Philadelphia positive B-cell Acute Lymphatic Leukemia.
In a matter of a few days life dramatically changed for Stan and his little family with this unexpected news and diagnosis. He was immediately admitted, has started chemotherapy and is preparing for a necessary bone marrow transplant. He is expected to undergo 30 days of inpatient chemotherapy followed by out patient treatments that may last 2 years or more.
The family has been devistated! Not only because his future is unknown and he won't be at home to love, help and support, but also because he is now unable to provide for them financially.
His wife Cassandre is working but the bills are already starting to mount up. According to U.S. News and World Report, the average cost of cancer treatment for one year ranges from $24,000 - $36,000 for the drug treatments alone. This does not include hospital stay or loss of wages.
As you can clearly see...help is desperatley needed. Please join us in supporting Stan and his family so that he may come home and not have the stress of recovering from cancer and worrying about his family's financial stability.
