My friend, Bob Lucas, needs help with this emergency GoFundMe project.  Bob has been blind since 2009. In 2013, Bob regained his sight from his new KSDS Assistance Dogs, Inc. Guide Dog, Indigo. “My life has changed dramatically since getting Indigo. I now can go live my life as a normal person without being a burden to others.” The Hutchinson News did a feature front page story about “Love at new sight” in the June 24, 2013 paper. This article featured Indigo and Bob’s new life together. This is now changing as Indigos recent injury is making them both homebound again.

Bob’s Veterinarian, Julie, helped diagnose Indigos left leg injury as a Left Knee Cranial Cruciate Ligament (CCL) disease.  She recommended Bob take Indigo to Kansas State University’s School of Veterinary Medicine for surgery, due to the $25,000 in advance training Indigo has received from KSDS in helping Bob be able to function normally in today’s society as a person with vision issues.

The surgery is estimated to costs from $3,000 to $4,000 depending on the exact nature of Indigos CCL surgical stabilization procedure. Recover could take up to 8 weeks. Indigo will have to take inflammation drugs during these times to help reduce pain and discomfort. Bob’s family will have to travel from their home 4 or 5 times to the Veterinarian School, fees for the GoFundMe account, and Motel fees. These could add another $1,000 in total expenses.

As Bob is on SSDI Blind disability and fixed income he has an immediate need to get Indigo back to work helping Bob as soon as possible. Bob’s family is lacking the funds to get this surgery for his best friend Indigo. Bob puts his life in Indigo hands every time they leave home. Indigo still wants to work while he is injured, but Bob limits his activities while Indigo is hurting.

Please help Bob raise the $5,000 to get Indigo’s Surgery as soon as possible.
