On February 20th, 2016, 36 year old John “Jay” Covington IV was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). AML is a type of cancer that starts in the blood-forming cells of the bone marrow. The American Cancer Society estimates in 2016, nearly 20,000 people will be diagnosed with AML.
I have personally known Jay for about 15 years. He is a kind, genuine and loving soul. Since his diagnosis, Jay has been unable to provide for himself or his three year old daughter, Emmy. Jay is an avid outdoorsman who loves seeking new adventures with his daughter. Seeing him debilitated by this disease is absolutely heart breaking.
I am creating this account on Jay’s behalf because I believe he and everyone else fighting AML’s focus should be getting well. Together, I hope we can help support Jay financially, thus allowing him to focus on the two most important aspects of his life; winning his battle with cancer and planning his next father-daughter adventure with Emmy. May God bless us all.
