Don's Medical/Stroke Fund

Donation protected
Hello family and friends,

My name is Jessica Bermudez. I'm Don's wife. On Sunday, September 25th, our world was turned upside down. I noticed Don was not quite himself and recognized the symptoms of a stroke and immediately called 911.

Don is 36 years old. We have 5 children between the ages of 2 1/2 months to 16 years old. He is the bread winner of our family. A blood vessel on the right side of his brain erupted causing his left side to be paralyzed. He has little movement in his left arm and leg. So far they have done 3 CT scans. All of them looking like the first with no significant change which isn't bad either meaning no more extra bleeding in the brain. They are trying to wean him off of bp medications through his iv but as of now they can't take him off of the meds because his bp rises when they try to do so. Once his bp is stable without meds via iv, they will be able to transfer him out of critical care onto a regular floor setting. He is able to talk clear and has finally been able to drink regular fluids but is on an advanced dysphasia diet which means soft textured food that is cut up.

I'm really trying so hard to be strong for him and my family. I have hope and I pray that he will recover from this. It is hard for me not to cry as I write this. I step out of the room to cry and put on a strong face in front of him so he will not lose hope in regaining his strength.

I know this will be a long road to recovery with physical, occupational and speech therapy.

It took me a lot to be able to muster up the guts to make a GoFundMe account. It's embarrassing for me to ask for financial help from people I know and do not know.

Al donations will go towards our time away from work, rent, car payments and everyday expenses. No amount is too small. Give what you can afford.

But with all the bills from medical, car payments of $570.00 a month, housing and everyday expenses, I am not able to handle all of that by myself. I myself can't afford to take the time off from work because I just returned from my maternity leave. But I have no choice but to take off and provide the support he needs to be able to recuperate. Thank you to all who have shared their prayers for us, who have called, who have messaged, who have come to visit and who have donated or are about to donate. It will help us a lot. I am reaching out for help. Please keep our family in your prayers.

Sincerely,

Jessica G. Bermudez
