I am a surgeon working in Rwanda to train future Rwandan surgeons. It is with a sad heart that I report that one of our general surgery residents passed away this weekend.

Aphrodis joined the surgery residency program in the second year of the HRH program and was starting his final year of surgery training. He was a hard worker and always smiling. His colleagues described him as the older brother that they turned to for advice. The residents, OR staff and all who knew him are all truly saddened by this loss. Our thoughts are with his young wife and two children (ages 7 and 2). 

We are raising funds to help with funeral expenses. Additional funds will be used to help support the family, including school fees for the children.
