Help Me Help Ethiopian Kids
Donation protected
I’m an adoptive mom of two Ethiopian boys, Chase and Caku, an MD and an experienced professional in the medical software industry. In my spare time, I do humanitarian work, participating in medical missions and fundraising for health care related projects in Ethiopia. This is where my passion lies.
To this end, I'm pursuing a Master of Pubic Health degree from George Washington University where I’ve maintained a 3.8 GPA. As part of my degree program, I’m required to complete a hands-on community service project. To satisfy this requirement, I’ve developed a project to work with severely under-nourished elementary school children in Ethiopia. The funding that I have been counting on for this month-long project in Ethiopia has fallen through so I am looking for your support to help make this happen. Funding from this campaign will support travel and living expenses for me and my two boys.
Some information about my trip:
From October to November, I will work as a volunteer for Wide Horizons For Children (WHFC) with 5-16 year old kids enrolled in a life-changing orphan prevention and family empowerment program at their school in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Working with WHFC on this project will provide me with a chance to help improve the educational opportunity for some of the world’s most vulnerable children.
In November, Chase and Caku, will join me in Ethiopia. We’ll spend a week visiting birth families and a week with our friend who directs the Nature Conservancy in Tanzania. This is an amazing opportunity for me to pursue my personal and professional goals while exposing my boys to an incredible life experience.
I am deeply grateful for your consideration. Any amount is appreciated. My deadline for fundraising is October 3rd.
