Feeding All the Cats - Kitty Warrior
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Susan, and I have been doing my best to feed and warm the bellies of over 80 kitties in the downtown and southside areas of Binghamton for many, many years. I previously ran a private cat rescue - Halfway Home Kitties - and would not only do TNR (trap-neuter-release), but would rehome any cats that may stand a good chance of becoming a part of a loving home. Unfortunately though, the number of untamed, misfit , overly-quirky and un-adoptable cats has grown over the years, leaving me with an unsustainable number of mouths to feed and care for on my own.
Additionally, my partner has recently suffered from serious health issues and is now disabled, and we are without his income, making this nearly impossible. It is uncertain and unlikely that he will be able to return to work in the same capacity as before and we are forced to now turn to our community for support. The loss of that paycheck coupled with inflation and a lack of supply makes caring for these cats very difficult on a daily basis. We open our door to all that we can and I feel lucky my family has not yet abandoned me as a crazy cat lady! There’s already had to be a drastic reduction in the number of times a week I am able to feed them and it breaks my heart to think about them waiting for food that will not come.
In the past, we have been very blessed to have a champion in our corner that has graciously kept us afloat during the dark days, and we are reaching out in the hopes that some other big hearts can help us through these ones as well.
I realize the holidays and inflation don’t make this a great time of year for fundraising. If you can manage a donation–no matter how big or how small–it would be so helpful and deeply appreciated… not only by me and my family, but by a whole bunch of cold and hungry kitties too.
