Hi, I am Emma Price and I will be turning 15 years old this summer. I have been accepted into an accredited international high school program called The Climbing Academy. Since my primary passions consist of international studies, world travel and rock climbing, this is my biggest dream come true!
I have recieved a very generous scholarship ($15,500) from The Climbing Academy that will hopefully make this dream a reality. However, my loving parents still can't fully afford to send me there. In order to attend a full year, I need to raise approximately $26,000 more. I am hoping to have raised at least $10,000 by September 2016 for the first semester tuition and $10,000 more by January 2017 for the second semester tuition. The remaining funds would go towards flights and gear (we are scheduled to go to Spain this fall and Mexico in the spring!!). I am hopeful to also get sponsorships from climbing companies that will assist with gear expenses. I am currently on a competitive rock climbing team for Earth Treks in Golden, Colorado and I am a Teen Venture Leader for the Colorado Mountain Club. Both of those organizations are helping me share my story with other climbers across the country. I am currently a freshman at the Denver School of the Arts and they have been helping me compile my art portfolio. I plan on continuing to pursue my education in leadership and art no matter where I go to school because I have a passion for those skills.
For 14 years, I have been trying to find myself in this big world of ours. Traveling the world with teammates, learning how to give back to communities, immersing myself in other cultures, working on educational curriculum in a constantly changing environment, and challenging myself physically every day, are some of the life skills that would help me focus on what is important so that I can help others do the same. I believe that The Climbing Academy would provide me with a sense of belonging while helping me become more culturally aware and compassionate towards others.
I would be so eternaly grateful to any contribution you might be able to make, $10, $20, anything helps so much. Even if you are not able to make a financial contribution, please hold me in your thoughts and spread my story to others.
