From the time I was young I had a feeling that something about me externally was not reflecting the same way that I felt internally. As much as I tried to figure it out on my own I couldn't quite understand what that was, until I hit puberty. I spent nearly the rest of my life trying to hide, wondering why I was this way, being angry.
When I first started looking into top surgery, it was in 1998. I went to two different surgens close to where I was living at the time, they both gave me a look like I had no idea what I was talking about. Feeling defeated, and becoming more depressed, I slowly started to disconnect myself from any and everyone, barely socializing to get by.
Within the past 5-7 years, I found my home in Madison, a wonderful community, and people I could actually talk to comfortably. Within this time I have truly been able to pinpoint who I am and how I feel: Masculine....not male.
I have selected a surgeon and the date is set in December, I have most of the cost of surgery taken care of. I'm hoping to raise enough to cover any unexpected medical costs, basic bills for the time that I have to take off work, anything that will help aid in the recovery process, etc.
Thank You for taking the time to read (and if possible, donate), to feel comfortable in one's own skin is something that I have not felt....ever. This is an important part for me in my own unique transition to feel complete.
