JC Freedom House LLC (JCFH) is a not for profit organization founded in 2013 serving the Metro Atlanta area. The organization is located in Douglas County GA. It took over this pre-existing shelter in 2016. It was this shelter that gave its current directors (who were previous residents) the spring board to get their lives back on track. GREAT NEED More than 10,000 people in metro Atlanta experience homelessness on any given night, with more than 40 percent being women and children. A survey of Atlanta's homeless shelters found a shortage of 1,700 beds for all single homeless people, more than 75,000 Georgians are homeless at some time during the year. URGENT ISSUES In 2016 after 7 years, the founders couldn’t run the shelter anymore. JC Freedom House is saving the shelter but furniture and funds for renovation are urgently needed. PLEASE GIVE YOUR BEST GIFT. The furniture and materials needed are listed below.
SHELTER SERVICES The shelter provides emergency/transitional housing, life skills training/substance abuse rehabilitation for women. It offers assistance to women, frequently homeless, as they move from dependent, often domestic violent relationships into independent, self-sufficient lifestyles. SUCCESS So many success stories have come out of the shelter’s history. One woman was able to transform her life from one where drugs played a big part to one where she was drug free and went on to go back to school and successfully graduate in her specialism. Another woman found the sanctuary to get her life back together. She went from a low paid job to a management position and reconciliation with her husband. Yet another woman was able to move from a domestic violence situation to getting a management role and completing her Masters degree. Yet another woman was able to find financial stability and was not only able to reconcile with her family but fulfilled her desire of again live with her family. Let’s save one more woman from destitution.
