Help Hassan to Meet His Family

Donation protected
This is not about me, my family, my friends.  It's about a teenage boy and his family.  He is a very sick boy and constantly in and out of hospitals.

Recently, I learned about Children's Wish Foundation who helps sick, dying and in need children to bring light into their lives by supplying their greatest wishes.

When I heard the story of this boy and his family, I just had to get involved.  My team and I are committed to funding Hassan's wish to see his family and to make that happen we need your help.

Here is his story...

Hassan is a bright and friendly 15 year old. He enjoys swimming, biking and playing video games when he can.
At birth, Hassan was diagnosed with Proprioc Acidemia (PPA) and Bernard Soulier Syndrome (BSS). Proprionic Acidemia requires Hassan to be fed a medical diet via g-tube because his body cannot break down natural protein.

Bernard Soulier Syndrome is a platelet dysfunction, similar to hemophilia. Hassan has had many hospital admissions due to unstoppable bleeding.

Unfortunately Hassan was also diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy; an enlarged heart, a side effect of the Proprionic Acidemia. He is on many medications for his heart to function and is monitored closely by Cardiologists at BC Children’s Hospital.

Due to the complexity of Hassan’s medical condition his mother, Sultana, decided to stay at home rather than pursuing a career, which puts the family in a difficult financial position. Hassan has a sister who also has both PPA and BSS, as well as two younger brothers. Aside from financial difficulties, the family struggles emotionally because Hassan and his sister have extremely fragile health.

They are admitted to the hospital often, which is difficult for everyone, especially Hassan.  Hassan is now in grade 10. His health remains fragile and he is still fed through a g-tube. He is monitored very closely by his doctors at BC Children’s Hospital. In the summer he took swimming lessons again and, although it was a challenge to manage his endurance, he did keep up well with the class. Overall Hassan has a difficult life coping with his diseases but he is always pleasant to everyone he meets and is a kind, gentle, caring and fun teenager.

Hassan was introduced to Children’s Wish by Heather from Starlight. His wish is to travel to Saudi Arabia. There he will perform Umrah – a visit to Mecca - with his
family and meet other family members that he otherwise could not meet.

There will be a large family reunion where his family from Pakistan will come to meet him. His face lights up with a big smile and his eyes shine when he talks about his wish!

It will give him a chance to leave all of his worries behind for a few days and enjoy what he always dreamed about but thought wasn’t possible for him.
