Fitzroy Leitch - Heart Procedure

Fitzroy J. Leitch Jr., is a 20-year-old former student of the North Ruimveldt Secondary School in Georgetown, Guyana. Fitzroy is a talented individual who has excelled in academics, sports and in the community where his religious belief and kind heartiness has made him a leader in both religious and social platforms.
Fitzroy was diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (“WPW”) http://www.kaieteurnewsonline.com/2016/09/11/living-with-wolff-parkinson-white-wpw-syndrome/. This rare disease is where an extra electrical pathway between your heart’s upper chambers (atria) and lower chambers (ventricles) causes a rapid heartbeat (tachycardia) and is detected in about 4 out of every 100,000 people. The episodes of fast heartbeats usually aren’t life-threatening, but serious heart problems will occur. A catheter-based procedure, known as ablation, can permanently correct the heart rhythm problems.
Over the past several months, Fitzroy have been experiencing an increase in episodes associated with this disease and visits to his doctor have confirmed that the catheter-based procedure will have to be done soonest. An operation is scheduled for mid-October 2016 at the Caribbean Heart Institute in Guyana.
The cost required for this medical procedure is $10,000. Fitzroy is a go-getter and along with his support group of family and friends, teachers and alumni, has managed to raise $5,000 through various fund raising events and donations from individuals in his country of birth, Guyana.
Unfortunately, Fitzroy cannot do it all, due to his declining health situation. To this end, a group of his high school alumni in the USA has set up this ‘Gofundme” page to help raise the balance due for his medical cost. We ask of you to support generously to help a brother in need.
