Amanda Howe Memorial Scholarship

Amanda (Mandy) Karsten Howe passed away on August 20, 2016.  Mandy was a brilliant person with huge artisitic and science skills.  She always had a love for the biological sciences.  She found and focused on the  branch of entomology, and in specific terms - Arachnology.  She had a global network of professional relationships which included several academic institutions such as Iowa State University, Vanderbilt University, University of Washington, University of California, the Southwestern Biological Institute, and numerous scientists, authors and peers.  ALL who became dear friends.

Mandy was a self-taught, global expert on the biology and taxonomy of Spiders.  Whether helping someone on their thesis or putting a worried parent's mind at ease, Mandy was the consummate advocate for spiders.

Mandy's personal struggles did not permit her to complete college.

Her parents, Laura and Curt wish to gather funds to set up a perpetual science scholarship trust in Mandy's name so that in the future, many people will benefit from her work and her relationships with all that knew her.
