I am 67 years I have been struggling with COPD since 1993. I had to leave my at Limited Brands due to my illness. I have been trying to survive on Social Security since then.
I have three children, all grown, who help me whenever they can. I also have 8 grand children who also pitch in to help with things I can no longer do. I also have one great grandson. I am looking forward to seeing him grow and hope to be able to go for walks with him by the time he is able to walk. He is a real joy.
I have been evalated for Lung Transplant and on February 8 have been added to the lung transplant list. Unfortunately, the cost of the medications I will need are very expensive and I have to have the money for them before I can be added to the list. My doctors say once I am on the list, it would only be a matter of weeks or a couple of months until a lung would become available. I was hoping to be able to get extra help through Medicare and or Medicaid, but was denied. I am looking into other areas of help as well. So far this year, medicare has denied my claims to provide the oxygen I need 24/7. I have appealed that claim and am waiting to hear from them. I had no idea this would be so difficult, but I want to live as long as I can. It is getting increasingly difficult for me to get out of the house for grocery shopping. I can no longer do things by myself. I must have help with everything. It is getting harder and harder for me to just get from room to room without having to stop and catch my breath. I can barely cook and prepare my own meals and I don't want to have fast food all the time and microwave meals get boring really fast.
I will also have to stay close to the hospital for 4 to 8 weeks, and that means have to have a place to live during that time. There are apartments close to the hospital, but won't know if they are available until it is time for me to leave the hospital. This wilI also be an extra expense. I will have to have someone with me 24/7 during that time and will have to stay with family members or others until I can be on my own again, which could be as much as a year.
God has blessed me with the most wonderful family and support system anyone could ask for. It means everything to me to be able to breath without using oxygen and do the things that I haven't been able to all these years. I just want a normal life, nothing special, just normal.
If you can help me out with a donation of any amount it is greatly appreciated, even if it's only a dollar, little bit by little bit will add up. You can message me or e-mail me and I can also let you know where you can send your donation.
Please pray for me.
Thank you all for any help and God Bless you all.
Linda
