Hello, this is Kayla.

At the age of 2 our beautiful daughter was diagnosed with an incurable, rare neurological condition called Rett syndrome. She is now 5 and the realities of this devastating condition are truly kicking us in the face and stomping on our hearts. Rett Syndrome causes profound and multiple physical and communication disabilities, which have made Kayla totally reliant upon others for support, this will continue throughout her life. Kayla also suffers with Epilepsy and Scoliosis.
We started ‘Kayla’s Cause’ to help raise funds towards much-needed adaptions at our family home. At present we are lifting Kayla up and down the stairs, sometimes several times throughout the day and night, as her bedroom and the family bathroom are currently upstairs. However neither is suitable for Kayla’s needs due to these rooms not being able to house Kayla’s large specialist equipment.
As you can imagine this is currently not a safe or an ideal situation for Kayla or us. Therefore these adaptions will enable Kayla to live as normal and comfortable a life as possible, whilst alleviating some of the strain to our backs!
Our plans are to create a bedroom and wet room for Kayla downstairs, along with widening all doorways for wheelchair access and creating a suitable driveway with ramp.
We appreciate you taking the time to read this little insight about Kayla and we are truly thankful for all your donations towards ‘Kayla’s Cause’.
