UPDATED Ed Hornberger Brain Cancer
Donation protected
I am here to ask for your help for dear friends. They are a good hearted, loving family and friends to many. This is going to be a long hard battle for all of them, and they really need our help. Here is their story, their life, now:
Help for Ed in His Battle against Brain Cancer
Ed Hornberger, his wife Karen, and their children Robert and Megan, who live in Voorhees, NJ, had their lives drastically altered a short time ago. Ed had surgery on Monday, August 22, 2016 to remove a tumor which was diagnosed as a primary and very aggressive form of brain cancer, a Grade 4 Glioblastoma.
The initial post-surgical recovery period was rough, but Ed weathered the storm and returned home on Saturday, September 3. Ed’s left leg is not functioning properly due to the location of the tumor, but he is managing well with the help of a walker and physical therapy. Next week, Ed will begin a five-day per week, six-week course of radiation and chemotherapy at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine. Subsequent testing will determine if alternative therapies will also be necessary.
Throughout this ordeal, Ed has maintained his sense of humor and a positive attitude toward recovery. However, it is inevitable that concerns about the financial impact of this illness on the Hornberger family will begin to weigh on Ed and Karen. The medical bills have only just begun to arrive, and it is apparent that there will be significant out-of-pocket expenses for which they will be responsible. And, of course, the regular bills- mortgage, utilities, car insurance, college tuition, etc. - don’t suddenly disappear just because someone is sick. While Ed will be receiving disability benefits, it will not cover all of his lost income while he is not working.
We’re sharing this campaign with family and friends in the interest of helping the Hornberger family through this challenging period in their lives, and are appreciative of any support you can provide. If you’re unable to make a monetary contribution, say a prayer, make a wish, or just keep good thoughts for Ed. We are hoping to see Ed win this battle and get back to enjoying a cancer-free life filled with family, friends and fishing as soon as possible. Thank you so much for your time.
No donation is too small, and the Hornbergers will be eternally grateful. Asking for help is not easy for them, but they realize they can't do this alone and have agreed to reach out for help.
Thank you so much for your time.
