Help AJ get his surgery please

Donation protected
AJ was only 16 years old when the life he knew all changed in a heartbeat. He was a great athlete, a great student who earned straight As most of his school career, loved by his friends and family, and had a bright future ahead. He had aspirations to go to the Air Force Academy. Something else happened instead. On December 9th, 2000, AJ was mentally and emotionally thrown off his game. Everything came crashing down. Three months after his trauma, he awakened to a world that was completely black. Not only was he completely blind, but he had to have his entire face/cranium reconstructed. He paid a heavy price for making one impulsive decision. But after 22 major surgeries, and several years in and out of the hospital, AJ graduated from Randall High School and learned to become independent in a world he could no longer see.
AJ decided to use what he learned from his tragedy to help others. He has shared his story with many at youth groups, schools, churches, rallies, correctional facilities and even hospitals. He has reached out to other young people in every walk of life who may be feeling discouraged or depressed. He has worked for The Suicide Prevention Hotline and has shared his story on Oprah. His testimony is extremely powerful and he has been a positive and encouraging person for many. Some have credited AJ as an inspiration for saving their own life. He has a heart of gold and has managed to go forward in this world without sight, and without asking for much. He went to school in Amarillo, Texas and became a licensed and exceptionally skilled massage therapist . He is now attending Austin Community College in pursuit of a Social Work degree and hopes to continue helping troubled youth at risk.
AJ currently needs more oral surgery to have dental bridges and implants placed in order to eat properly, improve his speech and improve the structure of his face. His Medicare does not cover it. The cost is approximately 50,000 out of pocket for the surgery. This is not obtainable for him without some help. For the first time since his ordeal happened, we are asking for others to contribute to his medical needs.
Please find it in your heart to donate what you can . This young man has paid his dues many times over through all his volunteer work for more than 13 years. He wants to finish his degree in order to make it on his own, as well as help as many others along the way.
