Help Prince get better
On Friday, February 12th, our precious fur baby Prince was part of an accident that has turned our world upside down. During playtime, he ran into our living room coffee table and became unconscious. Prince was not moving, his tongue started to turn blue, and was not responsive.
We rushed him to Valley Stream’s 24-hour Animal clinic. They ran a bunch of tests and kept him overnight to monitor his status. Friday night, we received a devastating call from the vet who prepared us for the worst.
However, early Saturday morning, a miracle happened when Prince started to show mild movement of his limbs. The vets were stunned and called us immediately to tell us we needed to take Prince to a different facility to receive specialized treatment under the care of a neurologist.
Since February 13th, Prince has been at Long Island’s Veterinary Specialized Hospital (Address: 163 South Service Road Plainview, New York 11803) and is being followed by the Neurology Department. We received the news late Saturday that he has a blood clot in his brain stem- the vets described it as a “stroke for dogs.” Prince needs to be closely monitored and treated until he makes a full recovery. According to his vets, Prince has a very long way to go. There are still many unknowns regarding his treatment plan, including the possibility of Prince needing surgery. Prince is currently conscious but still has difficulty moving his extremities. He is wearing a brace to protect his neck and is receiving nutrition from an IV.
Unfortunately, Prince does not have insurance, and the hospital bills have been extremely high and will continue to add up until we have him home. Since Friday 2/12, his bills have reached $10,733 (pictures of bills have been attached below) and are still accumulating with each day he remains in the hospital along with the additional fees as well as added expenses of procedures that may arise. The vets are predicting that he won’t recover for weeks.
We would like to invite you to help our little guy get better. Prince is only 1 year old and has such a long life ahead of him. Our home isn’t a home without him. He brings so much joy and love into our hearts and we’re all devastated knowing that his future is uncertain, especially while so young. We appreciate everyone’s support and kind words in advance during this extremely difficult time. ANYTHING will help.♥️
