Supporting Our Family's Health and Financial Struggles
Hey everyone, I'm reaching out with a lot of emotion because things are tough, and I need to ask for help. My family desperately needs financial support for treatments and meds—it's hard to admit, but here we are.
It hit me like a ton of bricks when Esther was taken to the ER on a stretcher six months ago. She told me she wasn't sure she'd make it, and that still haunts me. For five years, her health has been fading—fatigue, pain, anxiety—and now she's got the strength of someone in their 80s. The doctor said her life is slipping away bit by bit. My kids and I are affected too, but she's struggling the most. Esther figured out it was mold illness from online research, and we found Dr. Hoffman, an expert in recovery. With his help, we're seeing a real path forward, which gives us hope amid the mess.
Testing our old home was a shock—the assessor called Esther to say it was the worst contamination he'd ever seen. We had to leave everything, crash with my sister for weeks, then rent a basement suite for months. We declared the house uninhabitable, sold it, and bought a mold-free place. Savings and insurance covered us at first, but the mold triggered MCAS (like an auto-immune disorder) in all of us.
Now we're on strict diets to survive: my kids are limited, and Esther can only eat chicken with DAO enzymes to digest it. Relying on one food isn't healthy long-term, but it's what we can do. We haven't afforded her full IV therapies yet, so we've built up debt. Monthly costs run $20,000–$25,000 (we've cut to mostly prescriptions to save), plus $2,500–$3,000 more now that her treatment's started. It's overwhelming, but we're hopeful these steps will turn things around.
The kids and I need tests and care too—delaying could mean permanent damage. I'm selling extra stuff I don't need, even if it's just a few hundred bucks at a time. We're being careful with every decision.
I've always hated asking for help—pride, I guess—but prayer has answered us before, and I believe kind people like you can make a difference. Funds will go first to Esther's treatment and drugs, then to the kids and me once she's improving. Every dollar helps, and we're thankful for any support. We hope to get through this stronger and pay it forward one day.
Thanks from the bottom of my heart.
With appreciation,
Charles
