Hello everyone,

My name is Georgina Marin and im an 11th grader at LPS. Ive been growing up in Richmond it is very beautiful out here and full with many people who are very caring. My family is also a very supportive family. Ill love to go spain because it is a new experience. 

My mom is a single mother and I've never had a father figure around to help with the household expenses, studies, work, etc. My mom and i strive to make our dreams come true. Often times we dont have those chances because the lack of money and confidence to ask. My mom is a hardworker but she isnt capable of providing the whole trip for me.

Next summer, I have the opportunity to participate in an 11 day educational tour of Spain. If I am able to reach my fundraising goal, I will be visiting Barcelona, Madrid, Sevilla and Granada to experience some of the things I have only read about in books or seen on TV. This will be the first time many of my peers and I leave California, and we are eager to immerse ourselves in a new culture, improve our communication, and gain new perspectives.

Next summer i have the opportunity to go spain, and visit different places to learn more about the Spanish Culture and Language. This is very exciting to me because since I was small I would see pictures of Sevilla and i wanted to go there and i used to tell myself "someday you'll be over there", and when i read about the program it brought so much happiness to my life and i cried that night when i was told i was going to spain because it was a dream come true.This opportunity will allow me to know and be more comfortable getting out of my comfort zone.


Our group is already working hard to meet our ambitious goal by organizing small fundraisers around our community. My family and i are selling food at the moment to help me pay for this trip and we cant afford to pay everything due to the lack of money, since my mom pays the household expenses, my cloth, my food, her car, her gas. I am doing everything I can to make this dream a reality and I really need your support. One of the barriers I face in making this a reality for me is not having enough money, my mom being a single mother and raising me by herself. This trip will be a dream come true, Ive always wanted to go spain not only because of how beautiful it is but because i want to know more and more about it. Money has always been a problem to be and always takes many opportunities away from me.
