Taylor is the love of my life. We have been dating for two and a half years and he has never been anything but a caring and supportive man. Whenever I need him he always comes through for me. We have dreams of getting married, moving to the country to live in an off-grid cabin, and starting a family. Despite Taylor's condition, we have always held on to that dream and a hope for the future.
Taylor has suffered from Ulcerative Colitis for the past eight years. While I won't get into the details of his disease I encourage you to research this condition. Before we met, I had never heard of UC, and before we started dating, I had no idea how much of an effect it had on everyday life. If anyone reading this suffers from UC or knows someone that does, then you can understand how debilitating this disease can be.
I met Taylor in university; we were both starting our third year together when his health took a turn for the worse and he could not continue. Since he was diagnosed with UC, Taylor was on numerous medications without any lasting relief. He only got through two years of university thanks to prednisone, the "miracle drug". The problem, however, was that prednisone had severe and long lasting side effects, making it impossible to stay on for long periods of time.
Forced to leave school and unable to work, Taylor moved home to try to get better. Although there is no cure for UC, he has sought alternative methods to be able to live with his condition. I am happy to say he is trying to heal himself through nutrition, without the use of any medication.
This past year, I got accepted to college up north. Despite the stress of moving to a new place, Taylor came with me and has continued to support me in my dreams. But Taylor continues to suffer both physically and mentally. It breaks my heart to see him so stressed and in pain. He desperately wants to find a career so he can get out of debt and start saving for the future. But he is too sick to find work.
And that's why I've created this page. I've heard the success stories of people on GoFundMe and thought I would give it a try. Even if it doesn't work for us, I'll feel good knowing I tried. I want to pay off Taylor's student loan and credit card debt so we can start saving for our off the grid dream. He deserves to live without the stress of paying bills and worrying about a job. I know he could never ask strangers for help, which is why I have made this page without him knowing. He is too kind and would feel too guilty to ask for help, even when he needs it the most.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this story. Anything you donate, even the smallest amount, will go a long way.
Thank you and God bless.
