Travis Smith Landt, the son of Shane and Sandy Heck Landt, the late Bart Smith, Heidi (Jim) Annear, and brother to Aaron (Tricia) Landt, Jared (Kate) Landt, Shannon (Chris) Junk, Jake (Keri) Smith and Katie (Jake) Sargent has been battling health problems for some time. Several months ago he began experiencing severe headaches and some short term memory problems. Travis immediately sought medical care and has been undergoing multiple diagnostic tests (MRI’s, CT Scans) and evaluations by specialized physicians (oncologists, neurologist, neuro-surgeons). He was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Most recently he underwent a brain tumor biopsy and is now awaiting the pathology results and the corresponding treatment plan.
As Travis has maneuvered this journey, he has kept his sense of humor and demonstrated incredible spirit and love of life. He has carried this burden with humbled hopefulness and approached each step with purpose and a positive attitude. He hasn’t complained or asked for help. His burden is much more than managing the multiple tests, the brain biopsy and the unknown treatment to come. His burden also comes with a price tag. With high deductible insurance, many co-payments and now the inability to work, he is carrying an unknown clinical future and a potentially catastrophic financial future. Travis has incredible pride and it has taken a lot of convincing to get him to agree to allow us post this “go fund me” page on his behalf. He is a man of strong convictions and doesn’t want any “handouts”. However, we have finally gotten him to understand that all of his friends and family want to do something- anything- to help fight this battle. Being as none of us are oncologists or brain surgeons – the “something” we can do is try to ease his financial strain.
Please consider donating to Travis to help in his health care expenses. No donation is too small or too large. These donations will ease the challenges Travis has faced to this point as well as the challenges to come. If you have no means to give, your prayers and warm wishes are still welcomed and very much appreciated.
It is with love in our hearts and our love of life that we (Travis and his family and friends) thank each of you for contributing to this fund.
1. (First Update) Well it's frustrating the biopsy came back inconclusive, the tumor is inoperable and because its inconclusive the Neurosurgeon does not want to start treatment until he's absolutely positive of it's nature. I'm to follow up with more test and more MRI's. I will keep y'all posted as we move forward, again thanks to everyone for the ongoing support! I posted this myself - Travis.
2. (Second Update) Good Morning, yesterday I met with the Neurologist, he administered another round of 6 shots to the base of my skull for what they call a Benign Hemicranial Continua. I receive these shots about every 3 months and have a gel type drug I apply to the back of my skull every day. I also had more blood work done. "Starting to feel like a pin cushion”! He also agreed with the Neurosurgeon that they want to monitor my brain tumor and have scheduled more test and possibly another biopsy in the next few months, they have to wait for the brain tissue from the previous biopsy to heal before they can do more test. I also have an appointment with a Neuropsychologist in regards to memory/attention issues. Thanks again for all the support, I truly appreciate it!! ❤️
3. (Third Update) Good Morning, it has been a while since I sent out an update. I'm still receiving nerve block shots that are injected to the base of my skull, along with a medicated jell and medications I am managing my migraines. I have another round of test coming up in a few weeks with the Neurologist and Neurosurgeon. I thank y'all for the continuing support and I will keep you posted!!
4. (Fourth Update) Back for more testing! Hey y'all I had another round of MRI test and more blood work today. I met with the Neurosurgeon and the Tumor is still there; however he does not want to have to do another biopsy as of yet. He will confer with the rest of my team of doctors. I have follow ups with my Neurologist, ID Specialist and Neuropsychologist in the next several weeks. So not total bad news; however we still do not know what the Tumor is. After my team of doctors reviews the latest test I should have a better idea of the next steps. Love Y'all! Thank y'all for the ongoing help and support as I continue with more test and Doctor follow ups.
