Brian Doyle's Lung Transplant

Donation protected

My name is Mindy Brown, and I am fundraising for a very special person in my life, Brian Doyle. He has been an amazing role model and teacher to me. We have a very unique, close relationship. I met him at Stokes-Trainor GMC in Newberry as I started my future as an automotive technician. Brian was one of the senior technicians in the shop, as he had been for the past 14 years. Three months ago Brian was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. He worked at the dealership up until the day he went to the hospital and was put on oxygen. Six months ago Brian was an adventurous, healthy 60 year old. He was riding motorcycles and jet skis, replacing and rebuilding transmissions, and living his life to the fullest, but all of that came to screeching halt when he began having trouble breathing. On behalf of Brian and his children, I am fundraising for a lung transplant. We recently went to Duke University Hospital in North Carolina for an evaluation for a lung transplant. Brian has been semi-approved for a transplant with a few things that need to be done before he can be put on the transplant list. One of the things they require is fundraising to help cover the cost of housing and medications after transplant. We were given a fundraising goal of $21,000. In order to receive a transplant, Brian has to move to the Durham, North Carolina area to attend pulmonary rehab before and after transplant as well as for the transplant itself which is the housing cost. Brian will have to take up to or more than 40 pills daily after transplant to prevent rejection and some of these medications can cost over $2,000 a month. This transplant is so important, because without it doctors estimate that Brian will only have a few months left to live. Brian is a nonsmoker. This is literally a life or death situation. Any donations will be greatly appreciated by me, Brian, his children, friends, coworkers, and other members of our community. He is, after all, the best transmission man in this county, if not the state. By donating to this cause, you could literally be saving his life. Thank you.
