Hi! my name is Franco, I was born in Bolivia the 22nd of March’ 2013, when I was five days old I started to have convulsive seizures, my parents didn't know what was going on. I was admitted to the to the Neonatal intensive care unit for 15 days.
Once the doctors controlled the seizures I went home, My parents found a specialist in childrens neurology (Dra Jaldin) and to the date she is my doctor and is looking after me to avoid any more seizures. I was given various prescriptions such as Valpakine and Lamotrigina.
Unfortunately when I was three months I had strong seizure, my parents were desperate as one of the medicines “Synacthen” I needed to survive such episode was not available in Bolivia, My dad traveled to Chile to get it, as if I didn't receive that medicine I could die, on his way back the Bolivian immigration authority did not allow the medicine to be brought into the country despite having all the relevant prescriptions signed by my doctors, I needed this medicine between days of the seizure, out of desperation my dad bought a little cooler and smuggle the medicine into the country.
I was admitted for 15 days to the Hospital in order to receive ‘Synacthen’ as it is a powerful drug so i needed to be monitored all the time, I couldn't be with my mum and dad during that time…
Almost 3 years have gone by and the seizures have been controlled, but my health problems are far from over. I have a psychomotor delay, my foot are starting to deform and I am loosing my muscles, I am now three years old and I cannot crawl, walk, talk or seat on my own.
Overseas doctors have agreed to perform a surgery that will allow my body to be synchronised and will ‘free’ my muscles and tendons in order to give me some mobility, it is a serious, risky and extremely expensive operation that my parents will fund, this is why I am writing to you to see you if you can give my parents a hand to help raise the $25,000US needed.

Little Franco has been diagnosticed with West Syndrome which is ais a severe epilepsy syndrome composed of the triad of infantile spasms, an interictal electroencephalogram (EEG) pattern termed hypsarrhythmia, and mental retardation in this case Franco also present psychomotor delay.
