Amanda recently underwent genetic testing and was diagnosed with the BRCA2 gene. This diagnosis means that she has 87% chance of developing breast and 44% chance of developing ovarian cancer. The genetic testing was necessary because Amanda lost both her parents and other family members to cancer within the last several years.
She is taking a proactive approach to this diagnosis and will undergo a full hysterectomy and double mastectomy in June. By doing this it will reduce her odds to 1% chance of having cancer.
The goal is to raise to $2500 to cover her out of pocket expenses. Additional donations would be appreciated since any surgery always has additional costs associated with it.
