Michael and Naomi and their two teenage daughters live in an area hard hit by the recent

torrential rains in California. Even prior to the onset of the severe weather, Michael

has been far from home, receiving treatment for an on-going illness in the hospital in

Northern California. Now, Naomi and the girls are dealing with devastating issues at home

on the Central Coast.

On top of medical bills for Michael's treatment, the worst challenge is the failure of

their home's septic system, which resulted in sewage back-flow into their house, and a

massive cleaning effort to deal with it. Major septic repairs are still needed after

initial emergency measures. In addition, the roof is leaking. Repairs that were

previously scheduled had to be postponed due to Michael's hospitalization. Those

repairs are now delayed due to the ongoing storms, the inability to find a contractor to

undertake them, and the funds to deal with them.

Their garage is flooded, and water is coming up through the floor and through the walls

and ceilings in one of their bedrooms. Water is coming through window seals in places and

running into the walls and spilling onto the floor. Storm damage also took out fencing on

the property which will need to be rebuilt.

My sister and I, who live in Washington state and California, are asking for help for the

Manning family, former neighbors of our elderly parents. The Mannings epitomized kindness

in their interactions with Dad and Mom when they lived across the street. We will not

forget the care and patience they showed to Mom, especially, as dementia shrank her

world. They brought joy whenever they visited. We have set up this Go Fund Me project in hopes of bringing some relief to their situation.

The Mannings are a family who are normally self-sufficient, and asking for help is hard.

However, the current situation has knocked them for a loop. We are asking for help, with

their approval. All funds will go directly to the Manning family to help with the cost of

repairs to their home and/or medical bills, as determined by Naomi and Michael.
