Mission Trip to the Philippines

Hello everyone!

My name is Jacqueline Mann, and I am currently a senior biology major at the University of St. Francis. I am the vice president of the Gamma Kappa Chapter of the Beta Beta Beta Honor Society and a member of the Duns Scotus Honor Society, Delta Epsilon Sigma Honor Society, Biology Fellows, American Arachnological Society, and Illinois State Academy of Science. I am the senior research assistant in the USF animal behavior lab and have been conducting local, national, and international research on arachnid courtship and visual systems for the last three years. Although a majority of my life is dedicated to school, a large component of the organizations I am involved in is service. Now I am teaming up with University Ministry, and I am extremely excited to be participating in my first mission trip to Bacolod, Philippines!

From January 1, 2016 to January 10, 2016, students from USF, Benedictine, and Lewis will be joining a group from Gawad Kalinga (an organization similar to Habitat for Humanity) and members of the Bacolod community to build a 16'x20' home for a family that is currently homeless. This mission trip to the Philippines began nine years ago and has since completed two duplexes, five single homes, and a school.

The cost of the trip is $2,200 per person. This includes airfare, room and board, and costs for the materials to build the home. I can't do this without your help! Please consider donating, even just $1. Your contribution will bring me to one of the poorest areas in the world to care for people in need. Thank you all, much love!!
