Bye Bye Boobies!!!

Well, 14 years ago I found out that I was a BRCA2 gene carrier which makes me 84% more likely to be diagnosed with breast and ovarian cancer. In 2004 after the birth of my last daughter I decided to have my ovaries removed. And now it's been decided by myself and my breast specialist to undergo a bilateral mastectomy. This will reduce my chances of breast cancer to almost none.My decision comes from watching my mother battle ovarian cancer and duodenal cancer. As well as many other women I know who have or are currently battling breast cancer. So, I'm going to take a proactive approach to be able to watch my daughters grow up, be at their weddings and hold my future grandchildren. I WANT TO BE HEALTHY!! Which brings me to why I'm on GO FUND ME. I am an Emergency room nurse and my husband is a firefighter. We are a blended family blessed with 8 awesome kiddos! Currently I work as a PRN nurse and I do not have Paid Time Off benefits. Nor do I have savings to help with the one month recovery needed for my mastectomy and reconstruction. It is a 2-step surgery.We are in no way independently wealthy by any means lol!! And like most families if one paycheck is missing for one month that can add stress to an already stressful situation. So with a humble heart I am asking for a lil help in my upcoming surgery December 2016.Thank you for your consideration and thank you from the bottom of my heart!And please ladies.... self exams and mammograms!!
